The collared rugby shirt is the one older club members picture: long sleeves, a buttoned placket at the collar and hoops running across the body. We build it as a playing jersey first. The body is a 280 to 320 gsm tight weave in polyester or poly-cotton, heavy enough that it does not stretch out the first time an opponent grabs a fistful, and the hoops are cut and sewn as separate panels so the color stays put through a season of scrums.
The collar takes the most abuse, so it is backed with a reinforced facing. Your customer chooses the tight modern match cut or the looser traditional club cut; they are separate patterns and one squad can be split across both. Because the shirt reads well off the pitch too, the club cut in poly-cotton doubles as a supporter shirt for the club shop. Hoop count, width and color order all follow your spec.
Worth knowing: The poly-cotton option will not take sublimation, so any graphic beyond the sewn hoops has to be embroidered or printed.

Fully custom
The hoops are sewn panels, so the color design is in the shirt before any decoration goes on. Crests are usually embroidered or applied as an embroidered patch, and back numbers are set to the height your customer's union specifies. Each method is quoted per design.

How it works
FAQ
A collar gives an opponent something to hold, which is why many front rows prefer a crew neck. The reinforced facing stops the collar tearing away, but it does not stop it being gripped. Squads often put forwards in the crew neck rugby jersey (RG-003) and backs in this shirt, in the same colors.
Yes. Hoops are cut panels, so width, count and color order follow your design. Very narrow hoops add seams and panel work, so send the design with the brief and we confirm on the proof what the pattern carries at each size.
Yes. The traditional club cut in poly-cotton is the version members and supporters usually want for casual wear. It carries the same hoops as the playing shirt, so a club shop can sell a matching off-field line from the same color spec.
