Softball Pants overview

Most softball uniforms wear out at the pant first, and softball pants cut on a men's pattern sit wrong at the waist and seat before they have seen a single slide. Ours are shaped on a women's block, with the rise and hip cut for the players wearing them. The seat and knee use 240 gsm double-knit polyester, the abrasion-resistant build we also use for baseball.

Stress points are bar-tacked instead of back-stitched, so seams hold when a runner slides into third. This is the full-length cut, and the base for most custom softball pants we make for resellers. Programs that prefer to show the sock can switch to our knickers, which are graded separately rather than cut down from this pant. Youth sizes have their own pattern and stop at YXL.

Worth knowing: Double-knit is heavier and warmer than single-knit, which players feel in summer heat, but it is the construction that survives a season of sliding.

FAQ

Questions about Softball Pants

Are softball pants cut differently from baseball pants?

Yes. The construction matches, with 240 gsm double-knit and bar-tacked stress points, but the pattern is a women's block with a different rise and extra room through the hip. A baseball pant on a softball roster tends to gap at the back waist.

Can some players wear pants and others knickers?

Yes. Set the style against each player on the roster, and both are color matched and bagged per player. Each style counts as its own line for the 12-piece minimum on a new order.

Do you make fastpitch softball pants in white?

Yes. Pants are made to order in the team's color, including white, gray and darker road colors, matched to your PMS references on the sample. With white, check the sample in daylight over a sliding short, since no light fabric is fully opaque.
