Free tech pack template for teamwear
Our tech pack template is the spreadsheet we would fill in with you on a call: what the garment is, where every logo goes, what it is made of, how it measures, how many of each size and how it is labeled. Send it with a new design and we can price and sample from it without a long email thread.
01What is in the tech pack template
The file opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. Yellow cells are the ones to fill in, and each sheet starts with a one-line note on what it needs. It is built for teamwear, so the method column already lists sublimation, screen print, high-density print, DTF, heat-transfer stickers, embroidery, chenille, tackle twill and patches.
- Cover: Brand, style name and number, sport, garment type, quantity per colorway, in-hand date, fit block, size range and base size.
- Flats and placement: Front, back and side drawings, then one row per logo, number or name with its position, size in cm, method, colors and artwork file.
- Bill of materials: Body and contrast fabric, mesh, rib, lining, zipper and puller, drawcord, elastic, buttons, thread, labels, hang tag and polybag.
- Measurements: Points of measure from chest width to leg opening, how to take each one, values from XS to 3XL and the tolerance you accept.
- Size breakdown: Pieces per size for each colorway, youth YXS to YXL and adult XS to 5XL, with a total per colorway.
- Labels and packaging: Neck label type, care and content label, your RN or CA number, markets, hang tag, barcodes, polybag, folding and direct shipping.
02How to fill in a teamwear tech pack
Start with the cover and pick a fit block: athletic, regular, relaxed, women's, youth or compression. That one choice tells our pattern room more than a page of notes. Add a reference garment or a photo if you have one, and name the base size you want sampled.
On the flats sheet, a hand sketch or a photo with arrows is fine. What matters is the placement table: one line per element, measured from a fixed point such as "7 cm below the neck seam", with a size in centimeters. Players' names and numbers go here too, so we know the font size and position before we price decoration.
The measurement sheet uses garment measurements, taken flat, not body measurements. If you only know body sizes, write "use your block" and choose a size from our jersey size charts. For the step-by-step version with examples, read the guide on how to make a tech pack.
On the size breakdown, remember that each colorway is its own style, so a new order needs at least 12 pieces per colorway. Reorders of an approved style have no minimum.
03Send the tech pack with your order
Attach the file, your artwork and any reference photos when you start your order. If the design is unreleased, sign our mutual NDA first. Designs and patterns made for you stay yours.
We reply with the blank price per piece in five volume tiers, a separate quote for each decoration method and freight quoted on its own. Before bulk production we send a proof of the design, colors and sizes for your approval. You can also order one sample at the 12–50 price, credited to the bulk invoice. Production takes about 2 weeks after you approve the proof.
04What an apparel tech pack template cannot do
A spreadsheet describes a garment; it does not prove the fit. If a measurement table is all you send, the first sample is where fit gets settled, so plan for one round of comments. A physical reference garment shortens that.
The template also cannot tell you whether a decoration suits a fabric. Sublimation needs a high-polyester fabric, and fine embroidered text closes up below about 5 mm. When a choice on your tech pack will not work, we flag it in the reply before anything is sampled.
Q&AQuestions about the tech pack template
Do I have to fill in every sheet?
No. Fill in what you know and leave the rest blank. On the bill of materials a blank row means you want us to suggest the component, and on the measurement sheet you can write "use your block" to take our fit.
Does the template work for shorts, pants and jackets?
Yes. The measurement sheet already lists waist, hip, inseam and leg opening for bottoms, and the bill of materials has rows for zippers, lining and drawcords. Delete the rows that do not apply to your garment.
Can I use my own tech pack format instead?
Yes. A PDF or spreadsheet from your designer is fine as long as it covers the same points: drawings with placements, materials, measurements, sizes per colorway and labels. The template is a checklist, not a required form.
