Custom Soccer Crew Socks for Clubs & Schools

Last updated: May 19, 2026

Calf-height instead of knee-height. The soccer crew sock is the second standard cuff length in club kit procurement, popular with academy programs and youth leagues whose players prefer the sock tucked under the shin guard sleeve rather than wrapping over it. Empire Five knits these in the same polyester-nylon-spandex blend as our knee-high cut, with the same yarn-dyed knit-in coloring and the same reinforced heel-and-toe construction.

The Second Standard Cuff Height — Calf-High, Under-Shin-Guard-Sleeve Fit

The soccer crew sock is the second standard cuff height in our soccer Accessories range. Calf-height instead of knee-height, with the cuff sitting just above the ankle bone where it tucks under the shin guard sleeve rather than wrapping over the full guard. Same knit yarn (polyester-nylon-spandex blend), same yarn-dyed knit-in coloring, same reinforced foot-bed, same per-pair pricing as the knee-high cut. Academy programs and youth leagues often standardize on crew height because the lighter sock-leg feels less restrictive over the shin guard sleeve. Pair with 5-inch shorts for the full soccer kit.

  • Polyester-Nylon-Spandex Knit
200-needle gauge knit yarn with stretch recovery for ankle-and-calf fit and shape retention through season-long laundry cycles.
  • Calf-Height Cuff Construction
Cuff sits just above the ankle bone, mid-calf at most. Tucks neatly under the shin guard sleeve. Lighter feel than the knee-high cut.
  • Custom Yarn-Dyed Colors
Team colors dyed into the yarn before construction (not surface-printed). Stripes, hoops, blocks, and contrast cuff bands all run in the yarn-dyeing stage.
  • Outer-Calf Logo Zone
Optional screen-printed club crest, sponsor wordmark, or initials on the outer calf zone. Same decoration approach as the knee-high cut.
  • Adult & Youth Shoe-Range Fit
Three adult sizes (S/M/L) and one youth size mapped to US shoe ranges with EU and UK conversions. Mixed-roster orders welcome.

Honest Spec Notes

Fabric platform: Same knit-yarn platform as the knee-high cut. Polyester-nylon-spandex blend in a fixed-needle knit, with the leg tube ending at calf height rather than above the calf. Colors dyed into the yarn before knitting (yarn-dyed knit-in construction), which gives crisp stripe edges and full saturation across the full sock body, with the trade-off that fine graphic detail does not fit cleanly onto knit yarn.

Decoration: Same decoration approach as the knee-high cut. Primary is yarn-dyed knit-in coloring at the yarn-dyeing stage. Screen printing on the outer calf zone adds a club crest or sponsor wordmark. Sublimation is technically possible on knit polyester but the knit-grid texture shows through; we do not recommend it as primary. Embroidery is not applied because knit yarn does not hold dense stitching cleanly.

Color saturation: Yarn-dyed knit construction produces sharper color edges than sublimation on knit fabric. Each color is dyed into the yarn before knitting, so stripe lines have no print-bleed and saturation stays full from cuff to toe. The crew-cut sock has slightly less leg-tube area for vertical stripe patterns to display, so very thin stripes can read busier on crew than on knee-high. account for this in the mockup review.

Decoration Options for Custom Soccer Socks

Primary decoration is yarn-dyed knit-in coloring. team colors and patterns are dyed into the yarn before the sock is knit. Screen printing on the outer-calf zone adds a club crest or sponsor wordmark. Sublimation and embroidery are not used on socks for the spec reasons below.

Yarn-dyed knit-in stripes and team colors on a custom soccer sock, dyed into the yarn before construction for crisp sharp color edges

Yarn-Dyed Knit-In Coloring — primary method

Team colors are dyed into the yarn before the sock is knit. Stripes, hoops, blocks, contrast cuff bands, and full solids all run in the yarn-dyeing stage. Color is in the yarn itself, not a surface print, so there is nothing to crack or peel through season-long match-and-wash cycles. Sharp color edges and full saturation from cuff to toe.

Best for:Stripes, hoops, color blocks, contrast cuff bands, team-color solids, gradient calf-to-toe colorways
Screen-printed club crest applied to the outer calf zone of a custom soccer sock, showing flat vibrant solid-color ink on knit fabric

Screen Print on Outer Calf — logo zone

Club crests, sponsor wordmarks, and player initials applied to the flat outer-calf zone of the sock. This is the standard placement zone for sock branding because it faces outward when worn and the knit surface is flatter than the curved cuff or ankle. Ink may show light fade after 50-70 wash cycles (industry-normal for screen ink on knit fabric).

Best for:Club crest patches (1-3 inches), sponsor wordmarks across the outer calf, player initials, simple single-color graphics
Knit-in cuff band on a custom soccer sock showing team wordmark dyed into the yarn at the top elastic band

Knit-In Cuff Wordmark — top elastic band

Team name or club initials knit directly into the cuff band yarn, not surface-printed. Reads cleanly around the full circumference of the cuff and never wears off because the wordmark is in the yarn. Best for short club names and abbreviations (3-8 letters) that read clearly at sock-cuff scale. Sublimation and dense embroidery are not used on socks (sublimation shows the knit grid; embroidery does not hold on stretchy knit yarn).

Best for:Club name abbreviations on the cuff, repeating club initials around the cuff band, short sponsor name at the top of the sock

Logo & Pattern Placement Options

  • Cuff band (calf height): contrast-color knit-in band or short team wordmark (yarn-dye stage)
  • Calf body: stripes, hoops, blocks, or solid in team colorway (yarn-dye stage)
  • Outer calf: screen-printed club crest or sponsor mark on the flat outer-calf zone
  • Foot-bed: reinforced contrast-color panel for stud-pressure padding (functional accent)

Soccer Crew Socks FAQ

The questions clubs and coaches ask before placing a crew-height sock order. answered specifically for the calf-height cut, under-shin-guard-sleeve fit, and the academy/youth-league use case where crew is the standard.

What is the difference between crew-height and knee-high soccer socks?
Cuff height and shin-guard relationship. The crew sock cuff sits just above the ankle bone at mid-calf, tucking under the shin guard sleeve. The knee-high cut sits at the knee, fully covering a FIFA-compliant shin guard worn underneath. Yarn, construction, sizing, decoration zones, and pricing are identical. Pick crew if your league does not require the shin guard fully covered, or if your players prefer the lighter under-shin-guard-sleeve feel. Pick knee-high if you need the standard FIFA match-play silhouette.
Does the crew sock cover the shin guard?
No, not fully. The crew cuff height is mid-calf, just above the ankle bone. A standard shin guard is taller than that, so most of the guard sits above the sock cuff. Players wear the sock with the shin guard sleeve over the top of the sock cuff, holding the guard in place. Some leagues require the shin guard fully covered by the sock during match play. those leagues need the knee-high cut, not crew.
How are the colors applied?
Same yarn-dyed knit-in process as our knee-high cut. Stripes, hoops, blocks, and team colors are dyed into the yarn before the sock is knit. Each color is in the yarn itself, not a surface print, so there is nothing to crack or peel through season-long match-and-wash cycles. A separate screen-print step adds a club crest or sponsor wordmark to the outer calf zone if you want one.
Why do academy and youth programs often choose crew over knee-high?
Two reasons. First, the under-shin-guard-sleeve fit feels lighter on the leg, which younger players often prefer over the wrapping pressure of a knee-high sock. Second, crew is the standard cut in many youth-league and academy uniform specs because shin-guard requirements at those levels are different from senior FIFA play. Always check your specific league rules before ordering.
Can we put a club crest on the crew sock?
Yes, on the outer calf — the same flat zone we use on the knee-high cut. We screen-print club crests, sponsor wordmarks, and player initials. Embroidery is not recommended on socks because knit yarn does not hold dense stitching cleanly. For a wordmark across the cuff band, we knit it into the yarn instead of printing — but note that crew cuffs are shorter, so short wordmarks (3-6 letters) read cleanest at this cuff height.
How many pairs should we order per player?
Same as knee-high. Most clubs order at least three pairs per player. One for game day, one for practice rotation, and one for laundry-day backup. Some clubs add a fourth pair for tournament or travel weekends. Order from a single pair up if you just want a test sample first.
What sizes do you make?
Three adult sizes (S, M, L) mapped to US shoe ranges, plus one youth size. Identical sizing system to the knee-high cut. Adult S = US men 4-7 / US women 5-8, Adult M = US men 7-10 / US women 8-11, Adult L = US men 10-13 / US women 11-14. The youth size covers US shoe 1-4. EU and UK shoe conversions are in the sizing chart on this page.
What is the minimum order?
There is no minimum. Order from a single pair up. Tier-1 pricing covers 1-20 pairs at the same per-pair rate, with five additional volume brackets giving deeper discounts up to 1,000 pairs. Same per-pair pricing tier as the knee-high cut.
Can we mix crew-height and knee-high in the same order?
Yes. Many clubs order a mix. knee-high for the senior squad (FIFA-rule match play) and crew for the youth and academy teams. We bundle both heights in the same production batch when colors and decoration are shared, and the combined pair-count rolls into the same volume tier for pricing.
