The Wet-Weather Shell: Water-Resistant Full-Zip Baseball Rain Jacket

The baseball rain jacket is the wet-weather shell in our custom baseball range. Where the ultralight windbreaker handles dry wind and the knit batting jacket handles warm-ups, the rain jacket handles rain and wind. Built in a lightweight water-resistant ripstop polyester with a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish, taped seams at the shoulders and hood, a full-length zip with an internal storm flap, and a packable hood that rolls into the collar. Full-color sublimation covers the entire shell so the team mark and colorway read through a downpour. It pulls on over the uniform, packs down small for the gear bag, and rounds out the kit in one colorway.

Honest Spec Notes

Fabric: Water-resistant, not submersible-waterproof. The rain jacket is a lightweight DWR-coated ripstop polyester shell that sheds rain, wind, and wet benches. it is built for dugout and travel use in wet weather, not as technical mountaineering gear. Lighter than the dugout jacket and NOT insulated. for cold-weather warmth that is the dugout jacket, for dry wind that is the windbreaker.

Decoration: Sublimation and heat-transfer are the recommended methods because they add no needle holes and keep the water resistance intact. Embroidery needle holes pierce the water-resistant shell and can let water in at the stitch line. we offer embroidery on request with seam-sealing tape behind it, but for full water resistance we recommend sublimation or heat-transfer instead.

Seams: The major water-entry seams at the shoulders and hood are taped and welded, not just stitched, so water does not wick through the needle holes. The full-length coil zipper runs behind an internal storm flap with a chin guard at the top to keep wind and rain out and prevent zipper bite.

Decoration Options for Your Rain Jacket

Sublimation and heat-transfer lead on a water-resistant shell because they add no needle holes. Embroidery is available on request, but its needle holes can let water in at the stitch line, so we disclose that up front.

Custom sublimation printing applied to a polyester shell, showing full-color graphics integrated into the fabric

Sublimation — recommended

The recommended method for a water-resistant shell. Full-color digital designs become part of the polyester so they add no needle holes and the water resistance stays intact. Color-match the team logo and uniform colorway across the whole shell, sleeves and hood included.

Best for:Color-matching the uniform, full-back team marks, sleeve stripes, hood accents, sponsor wordmarks
Heat-transfer and screen-printed lettering on a custom garment, showing surface-applied flat-color graphics

Heat-Transfer & Screen Printing

Heat-applied numbers, names, and sponsor wordmarks sit on the surface of the shell without piercing it, and screen printing works on the flat front and back panels. Both keep the jacket water-resistant while adding crisp single or multi-color branding.

Best for:Player names and numbers, sponsor wordmarks, flat-color crests, simple back-panel branding
Embroidered crest on a custom garment, showing dimensional sewn-on lettering

Embroidery — on request

Available on request for a dimensional crest, but here is the honest trade-off. embroidery needle holes pierce the water-resistant shell and can let water in at the stitch line. We back it with seam-sealing tape when requested, but for full water resistance, sublimation or heat-transfer is the better choice.

Best for:A dimensional chest crest where some loss of water resistance is acceptable, applied with sealing tape

Logo & Number Placement Options

  • Front-left chest: team crest (sublimation or heat-transfer recommended on the water-resistant shell)
  • Full back panel: large team mark or sponsor wordmark (sublimation)
  • Sleeves: sublimated team stripes or accent designs down the full sleeve length
  • Hood: team name or accent color block (sublimation)

Baseball Rain Jacket FAQ

The questions teams and coaches ask before placing a rain jacket order. answered for the water-resistant wet-weather shell and how it differs from the windbreaker and the batting jacket.

Is the baseball rain jacket actually waterproof?
It is water-resistant. a DWR-coated ripstop polyester shell with taped and welded seams at the shoulders and hood that sheds rain, wind, and wet benches. It is built for dugout and travel use in wet weather, not as technical submersible mountaineering gear. The water-repellent finish handles light-to-moderate rain and is reproofable with a spray-on repellent as it wears across seasons.
How is the rain jacket different from the windbreaker and the batting jacket?
Three different jobs for three conditions. The rain jacket is the water-resistant wet-weather shell for rain and wind. The windbreaker is the ultralight wind shell for dry breezy days, with no water-resistant coating. The batting jacket is the heavier knit warm-up layer for the dugout and travel. Most teams that play through wet weather order more than one. See the side-by-side table below for the full breakdown.
Can you embroider our team logo on the rain jacket?
We recommend against embroidery directly on the shell, and here is the honest reason. embroidery needle holes pierce the water-resistant fabric and can let water in at the stitch line. The methods that keep the jacket water-resistant are sublimation and heat-transfer, both of which add no holes. If you want a dimensional embroidered crest, we can apply it with seam-sealing tape behind it on request, but for full water resistance sublimation or heat-transfer is the better choice.
Does the rain jacket have a hood?
Yes. a packable hood that rolls into the collar when you do not need it. The hood seams are taped like the shoulders so water does not wick through. You can specify the hood with or without a drawstring and adjustable toggle in your quote.
Will the jacket color-match our uniform?
Yes. We sublimate the rain jacket in the same colorway as your team jersey using identical color values. Order the jacket and the uniform together and we run them in the same production batch for a coordinated team look from the gear bag to the bench.
What is the minimum order?
There is no minimum. Order from a single piece up. Tier-1 pricing covers 1-20 pieces at the same per-piece rate, with five additional volume brackets giving deeper discounts up to 1,000 pieces.
What is the production and delivery timeline?
Production runs about two weeks from artwork approval. Tracked door-to-door shipping to 50+ countries adds 4-7 business days under our free worldwide shipping policy, putting your custom baseball rain jackets in your team's hands inside three weeks of sign-off. Rush production available on request.
