Why hockey teams choose Empire Five
The hockey sweater is worn over shoulder and elbow pads, so it has to be cut loose and long. We build ours with the drop-tail hem that tucks into the pants and stays put through a shift, roomy enough to layer over a full set of pads without riding up. The crest and numbers go on the way the game expects, a sewn tackle-twill crest on the chest and twill numbers and a nameplate on the back, so they survive the boards, the washing, and a full season.
Hockey is played on a cold sheet at high speed with constant contact, and the sweater takes all of it. Whether you run a light air-knit for beer-league nights or a heavier pro-weight for a junior program, an Empire Five sweater still reads sharp in the third period, not just at warm-ups.
Air-knit, pro-weight, or sublimated
We build the sweater three ways, and the right one depends on your program. Air-knit is the light, breathable polyester most rec and youth teams choose, easy to layer and quick to dry. Pro-weight is a heavier, denser knit that stands up to a long junior or college season and holds a sewn crest beautifully. Full sublimation dyes the whole design, gradients, fades, and all-over patterns, into the fabric with no weight or peel, which is the route for a bold modern third jersey.
Every build can carry a traditional lace-up collar and a fight strap to keep the sweater tucked, and all three come at the same per-piece price on our tiered scale. Tell us your level and the look you want, and we point you to the build that actually holds up for it.
The tackle-twill crest, and how hockey decorates
Hockey decoration is a tradition of its own. The team crest is cut and sewn in layered tackle twill on the chest, the players' names go on a twill nameplate across the shoulders, and the numbers are stitched on the back and sleeves. It is heavier and more durable than print, and it is the look most leagues and alumni expect from a real sweater.
When a program wants something the twill cannot do, a photographic gradient, a fade, or an all-over pattern, we switch to full sublimation and dye it into the fabric instead. Many teams combine the two, a sublimated body with a sewn twill crest, so you get the modern design and the traditional chest all on one sweater.
Breezers, girdles, and tall socks
The lower half of a hockey uniform is its own system. Breezers are the outer pant shell that goes over the hip and thigh pads, and we build them in your team colors to match the sweater. Under them, a padded girdle puts hip, thigh, and tailbone protection in a compression layer for players who prefer the pads close to the body, and we make a youth pant for the smaller end of the roster.
Tall hockey socks pull up over the shin guards and are sized by length rather than shoe size, so they sit right whether a player is a squirt or a defenseman. We knit them in a traditional heavy knit or a lighter performance poly, both in your colors with stripes to match the set. It is the detail that makes a team look finished from skate to shoulder.
Outfitting every level of hockey
The right kit changes with the level, and we make all of them. Youth associations skating the USA Hockey age divisions, from Mite through Midget, order durable air-knit sweaters and matching socks a whole club can share. High school and junior programs need a deeper set with home and away sweaters and a matching goalie cut.
College clubs in the NCAA and ACHA want pro-weight sweaters that last a full season, and adult and beer leagues want a proper sweater without a warehouse minimum. Because we ship worldwide, we also supply roller and inline teams and international clubs that play under IIHF rules. Tell us your level and we match the sweater weight, cut, and crest to it.
Fabric, fit, and care
Our sweaters come in air-knit and pro-weight polyester and in full sublimation, all cut loose with a drop-tail hem to layer over pads, in sizes from youth up through the big adult range a beer-league defenseman needs. Socks are knit to length in heavy or performance yarns, and breezers use an abrasion-resistant shell.
Care is simple: wash cold and inside out, skip the fabric softener because it slows drying, and air dry so the knit and any elastic keep their shape. A sewn tackle-twill crest lasts for years if you keep the sweater off the hottest dryer setting. Treated this way, a set of custom hockey jerseys and socks stays sharp from the first drop of the puck through playoffs.
What sets Empire Five apart
We manufacture in Sialkot, Pakistan and sell factory-direct, so a club pays the maker instead of a team-dealer markup. There is no minimum order, so a single player or a full roster with matching socks pays the same honest per-piece rate on our six-tier scale, and shipping is free worldwide on every order.
Order home and away sweaters together and both come off one dye batch, so the colors match across the set. Every order opens with a free design mockup within 12 hours and unlimited revisions, and most orders arrive in about three weeks, roughly two weeks in production plus a week in transit, with rush production available when your season starts sooner than planned.
